What are Buffalo Chicken Crostini
Buffalo chicken crostini are a fun twist on the classic buffalo chicken dip! A buffalo chicken spread is baked on thin slices of baguette and topped with cheddar cheese. As they bake the spread gets oh so creamy, the baguette gets crunchy, and the cheese on top is perfectly melted! They are finished off with a drizzle of ranch and fresh green onions. These are the ultimate party food for game days, holidays, and potlucks!

Ingredients
- Baguette (not pictured) - the base of these appetizer bites is baguette. Thinly sliced baguette is topped with the buffalo chicken spread and baked. The bottom of the baguette gets nice and crispy and the top stays soft making it the perfect texture.
- Cooked Chicken - the best part about this recipe is that it's meant to be a quick and easy appetizer!! That means you can use rotisserie chicken. All you need to do is shred the chicken. You can also make homemade chicken and shred it into small pieces.
- Buffalo Sauce - they key ingredient for any buffalo chicken recipe.
- Ranch Dressing - cue the debates on ranch dressing versus blue cheese dressing!!! We personally love ranch dressing and we find it is the more common favorite so that is what we lean towards. However, you of course can use blue cheese! This recipe makes two trays of crostini. You can drizzle ranch on one and blue cheese on the other and let your guests debates which is better!
- Green Onion - baked into the buffalo chicken spread and used for garnish for a fresh pop of flavor and color!
- Cream Cheese - the base of the buffalo chicken spread. Cream cheese is perfect for dips and spreads because it does not fully melt when cooked. Baked cream cheese has the most rich and creamy texture.
- Garlic Powder - usually we are team fresh garlic, but garlic powder is a safer route for party finger foods as you don't want to give all your guests garlic breath! The garlic powder adds just the right amount of garlic flavor without needing to pass out mints during your party.
How to Make Buffalo Chicken Crostini
Full Printable Recipe at Bottom of page
- Preheat oven to 350°F with racks in the upper and lower thirds of the oven.
- Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper or foil. Generously spray with cooking spray or, drizzle 1 tablespoon of cooking oil of choice on each tray and evenly spread over the tray. This will make the bottoms of the bread crispy when baking.
- Slice the baguette into thin slices, approximately ½ inch thick slices. Depending on the size of the baguette you should able to cut 24 slices (tip: trim the rounded end pieces off to be able to get a crostini from each end of the baguette).
- Evenly distribute the slices of baguette on the two baking sheets.
- In a large bowl combine all of the buffalo chicken spread ingredients. Stir until evenly combined (Tip: be sure the cream cheese is at room temperature so it is easier to stir. Leave the cream cheese on the counter while you prep all the ingredients, or microwave for 15 seconds).
- Use a spoon to evenly distribute the buffalo chicken spread over the crostini.
- Evenly distribute the ½ cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the tops of each crostini.
- Place the baking trays in the oven and bake for about 10-12 minutes (switching the trays from the upper and lower racks halfway through cooking), or until the cheese is melted and the bottoms of the crostini are crispy.
- Drizzle ranch dressing or blue cheese dressing over the crostini and sprinkle sliced green onions over the tops for serving. Serve warm and enjoy!
Tips for the Best Crostini
- Buffalo Chicken Spread - be sure that your cream cheese is at room temperature or else it will be very hard to mix together. While you prep all the ingredients for the recipe leave the cream cheese on the kitchen counter. Or you can place it on a microwave safe plate and heat for 15 seconds, or until slightly warm and soft to the touch.
- Baguette - try to slice your baguette into even ½ inch slices. If the pieces are two thin, they will get too crunchy. If the pieces are too thick it will be difficult to bite through.
- For Serving - you can assemble the crostini up to 1 day in advance. This can help cut down on prep time the day of serving. Just store them covered in the fridge on the baking trays. You can drizzle the ranch dressing before serving, or you can leave a bottle of ranch out and have your guests drizzle the ranch. You can also swap the ranch dressing for blue cheese dressing for the garnish and in the buffalo chicken spread.
