Pizza Egg Rolls Recipe

If you love pizza as much as I do then you will love these pizza egg rolls! Imagine your favorite pizza toppings wrapped in a crispy egg roll wrapper and air fried or baked until it’s crispy and bubbly.

The best part about these pizza egg rolls is that you can get the whole family involved in pizza night without having to worry about making or rolling out pizza dough! I love pizza but I will admit that rolling out pizza dough can be a real pain.

Instead of rolling out pizza dough, just grab a pack of egg roll wrappers and get the family involved in rolling up their own pizza egg rolls for dinner!

What are Pizza Egg Rolls?

Pizza egg rolls are a combination of two classic dishes, egg rolls and pizza! Egg roll wrappers are filled with cheese, pizza sauce and a variety of pizza toppings. Air fried, pan fried or baked until golden brown and then served with pizza sauce to dip.

The flavor variations are endless with pizza egg rolls. Turn your favorite pizza flavor into an egg roll and switch up your regular pizza dinner night with this fun recipe.

What is in Pizza Egg Rolls?

  • Egg Roll Wrappers – found in the refrigerator section of grocery stores next to the chilled salad dressing and tofu. They are sold in packs of 12.
  • Mozzarella Cheese – I personally love using mozzarella cheese as it is the perfect stretchy cheese for these egg rolls but you can use any cheese you like.
  • Pizza Sauce – store-bought or homemade pizza sauce can be used. For a quick dinner or appetizer I love grabbing a jar of store-bought sauce to cut down on prep time.
  • Pizza Toppings – use any variety of your favorite pizza toppings.
    • Mushrooms
    • Pepperoni
    • Onion
    • Peppers
  • Oil or Cooking Spray – for cooking

How to Make Pizza Egg Rolls

Assemble the Egg Rolls

  • To assemble the egg rolls place one slice of cheese in the center of the egg roll wrappers and top with 1-2 teaspoons of each of your favorite pizza toppings. Top with 1 tablespoon of pizza sauce.
  • Dip your finger in water and wet the edges of the egg roll wrapper.
  • Fold in two opposite corners to the center and then tightly roll.
  • Repeat with remaining egg roll wrappers.

Cook the Egg Rolls

  • AIR FRYER COOKING METHOD
    Brush both sides of the egg rolls with oil and Air Fry at 400°F for 5-10 minutes or until golden brown.
  • STOVE TOP COOKING METHOD
    Heat a deep pot with oil on medium heat. Fry the egg rolls in small batches for 5 minutes or until golden brown.
  • OVEN BAKING METHOD
    Brush the egg rolls with oil on both sides. Place directly on a sheet pan lined with tin foil OR on a sheet pan with a baking rack. Bake at 400°F for 10-15 minutes or until golden brown. Flip halfway through cooking and brush with more oil as needed.
  • Allow the egg rolls to cool for 2-3 minutes before serving, the filling will be very hot.
  • Serve with pizza sauce to dip and enjoy!

How to Reheat Pizza Egg Rolls

AIR FRYER REHEATING METHOD

Air Fry the cooked egg rolls at 400°F for 2-3 minutes, flipping halfway through. The egg roll wrapper will get crispy on the outside.

OVEN REHEATING METHOD

Place cooked egg rolls directly on a sheet pan lined with tin foil OR on a sheet pan with a rack. Bake at 400°F for 5 minutes. Flip halfway through reheating. The egg roll wrapper will get crispy on the outside.

MICROWAVE REHEATING METHOD

Microwave in 15 second intervals until warmed through (note: this reheating method will not make the egg roll wrapper crispy)

Ingredients
  

  • 12 egg roll wrappers
  • 2 tbsp oil, for cooking
  • 12 slices mozzarella, or 6 mozzarella cheese strings cut in half
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce

Pizza Toppings for Filling (Any Combination of your Favorite Toppings)

  • 1/2 cup mushrooms, diced
  • 1/2 cup red pepper, diced
  • 1/2 cup onion, diced
  • 1/2 cup pepperoni, or salumi, diced

Instructions
 

Assemble the Egg Rolls
