Dips are hands down one of the most popular appetizers. The best part about them is they are so easy to make and there are so many fun variations. This layered Greek dip is a super easy appetizer to make and who doesn't love Greek flavors?!
What is Greek Layer Dip
Greek layer dip is a fun and delicious dip featuring so many great Greek flavors. The first layer of the dip is a thick and creamy hummus! It's then topped with flavor packed tzatziki which is a yogurt based cucumber spread. The dip is then topped off with a beautiful medley of cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions, kalamata olives, and lots of crumbled feta cheese! Served with pita bread to dip this is one of the best light and fresh dips you can make.
What to Serve with this Dish
Ingredients
- Feta - everything is better with feta! This crumbly Greek cheese is the perfect top layer of the dip.
- Cucumber - finely diced cucumbers are a classic ingredient in Greek salad.
- Tomato - you can use finely diced cherry tomatoes, or any variety of tomato with the seeds removed. The seeds will make the dip overly watery so you want to remove them if you are not using cherry tomatoes.
- Kalamata Olives - we love kalamata olives. Look for sliced pitted olives at the store or if you can only find whole olives you can slice them off the pit and dice them into bite sized pieces.
- Hummus - we are huge fans of hummus. You can use store bought or homemade. The fun part about this recipe is you can change up the flavor of hummus you use. You can use plain or a flavored hummus such as roasted garlic!
- Tzatziki - this Greek yogurt based spread is a staple in Greek cuisine. You can use store-bought or homemade
- Red Onion - red onion is a staple in Greek cooking. It is diced very finely so it is not overpowering.
- Olive Oil and Oregano - a mix of olive oil and oregano is drizzled over the dressing to give it a beautiful glossy finish and add a pop of flavor.

Tips for the Best Dip
- Layers - when making a layered dip it is important to layer the ingredients from heaviest to lightest. This is why the hummus is the bottom layer, then the tzatziki, and then the veggies and cheese. The hummus is the thickest and heaviest so it needs to be the bottom layer. Be sure to chop the veggies into very small pieces as you want to be able to scoop them up on pita bread, crackers, or chips.
- Hummus - this is a versatile recipe and you can swap the hummus to use any flavor you like. Some great flavors for this dip include roasted red pepper, roasted garlic, and olive hummus!
- Flavor Variations - this dip is 100% customizable to your liking. If you don't like onions you can leave them out, omit the olives, or add in bell peppers! You can use any combination of fresh veggies you like. You can also make a spicy version of this dip by adding sliced pickled hot peppers as a veggie topping.
