What is in Tzatziki Sauce?

ingredients to make greek tzatziki
  • With only 6 ingredients Tzatziki is one of the simplest sauces to make! However, it is incredibly delicious.
  • Greek yogurt is the perfect tangy and thick base of the sauce. For a thick tzatziki use 2% greek yogurt or if you like it a bit thinner use 0%. In addition, tzatziki is a healthy dip with a yogurt base (no sour cream or mayo like most dips)!
  • English cucumber is my preferred cucumber of choice for tzatziki. The cucumber is shredded and then salted to draw out the water. By doing this you do not need to remove the seeds from the cucumber and the sauce will last 3-4 days in the fridge without it becoming too watery from the cucumber.
  • The simple yet delicious seasonings are fresh garlic, lemon juice, dill and a pinch of salt.

Wonderful recipes - I used Turkish yogurt, ( Labne), but otherwise followed the recipe as written and my guests literally ate it all up. Likewise for the pork souvlaki. I was a little concerned that the lemon juice would cook the pork so I only added it for a few hours. This makes for a memorable meal.
