What is in Honey Sriracha Chicken Skewers?
- Chicken Thighs – we recommend boneless skinless chicken thighs for these skewers. You can use boneless skinless chicken breast if you prefer. Thighs have more fat and they stay moist when grilled so you don’t have to worry about the meat drying out when it cooks.
- Honey – adds a beautiful sweetness to the chicken and caramelizes when grilled.
- Sriracha – we love sriracha hot sauce. For this recipe you can use any hot sauce you like but sriracha has a great smoky flavour that is perfect for grilling.
- Soy Sauce – adds an umami flavour and deep colour to the marinade.
- Garlic – pairs great with the sriracha.
- Ginger – a classic Asian ingredient. It adds a subtle ginger flavour to the chicken that ties all the Asian inspired flavours together in these skewers.
- Pineapple – we love grilled pineapple. It is a great addition to chicken skewers as it adds a sweetness to them. The sweet and spicy sauce pairs perfectly with the grilled pineapple.
- Red Onion – grilled red onion adds a great flavour to the skewers. Red onion and pineapple are often paired together as they compliment each other with their sweetness.

Tips for the Best Honey Sriracha Chicken Skewers
- Skewers - You can use either wooden or metal skewers. If using wooden skewers, soaked them in water for at least 30 minutes before using them. This prevents the skewers from charring during cooking. If using metal skewers, make sure they fit in the air fryer basket. If using long wooden skewers, you can break them in half if you need to shorten them.
- Chicken - Be sure to cut the pieces of chicken into the same size to ensure even cooking. You can use chicken thighs or chicken breast for this recipe.
- Customize – these skewers are versatile and can be customized to you liking. If you prefer just chicken then don’t add the pineapple and red onion. Or swap the veggies and try bell peppers, zucchini, or mushrooms.
