Honey Garlic Chicken and Green Beans Recipe
If you are looking for a quick 30 minutes recipe to add to your dinner rotation you are in the right place! This quick stir fry not only comes together in just 30 minutes but it is incredibly delicious, easy and healthy.
We love stir fry here at Fed by Sab and this is one of our favorites! With just 10 ingredients (not including cooking oil) this stir fry is a fan favorite.
What is Honey Garlic Chicken and Green Beans?
This stir fry pairs tender and healthy chicken breast with green beans and a honey garlic sauce. We recommend chicken breast for this recipe but you can use boneless skinless chicken thighs if you prefer. Both the chicken and green beans cook so quickly that this recipe comes together in 30 minutes.
The sweet and savory honey garlic sauce does not have a long ingredient list. It is just honey, soy sauce, chicken broth, garlic and ginger. Corn starch is added into the sauce to help thick it and give it a nice glossy finish!
Serve the stir fry over rice and garnish with sesame seeds (optional). The stir fry cooks just as quick as it takes to make rice in your rice cooker or stove top. Start your rice first and then prepare the stir fry and enjoy your meal.
What to Serve with Honey Garlic Chicken and Green Beans
What is in Honey Garlic Chicken and Green Beans?
Stir Fry Ingredients
- Green Beans - one of my favorite vegetables for stir fry recipes. They are great because they cook quickly and they maintain a bit of crunch so you have a nice combination of tender chicken and crunchy beans!
- Chicken - we recommend using boneless skinless chicken breast for this recipe. It is leaner than thighs, cooks quickly, is tender and stays incredibly moist. You can use boneless skinless chicken thighs for this recipe if you prefer.
- Chicken Marinade
- Garlic - fresh minced garlic is recommended.
- Ginger - fresh grated ginger is recommended. I always keep a piece of ginger wrapped in plastic wrap or in a freezer safe container/bag in the freezer. This way you do not need to keep buying ginger for each recipe. It lasts for months(!) in the freezer and you can grate it frozen and then pop it back in the freezer for future use.
- Soy Sauce - regular soy sauce or low sodium soy sauce can be used. Do not use dark or sweet soy sauce.
- Shaoxing Wine (Chinese Cooking Wine) - this ingredient is optional. It tenderizes the chicken. You can omit this ingredient if you do not have it on hand.
- Chicken Marinade
- Oil - for pan frying the beans and chicken. Use your favorite neutral cooking oil.
Honey Garlic Sauce Ingredients
- Honey - the base of the sauce.
- Garlic - fresh finely diced/minced garlic is recommended for the sauce. We highly recommend not using garlic powder and use fresh for this sauce.
- Ginger - fresh grated ginger is recommended (see ginger freezing tip above).
- Chicken Broth - store bought chicken broth works great (or homemade).
- Soy Sauce - adds an umami flavor to the sauce.
- Corn Starch - this thickens the sauce and gives it a nice glossy finish. This helps the sauce stick to the chicken and green beans. If you prefer a more runny sauce you can omit the corn starch.
