What is in Chocolate Peanut Butter Nests?
Star Ingredients
- I am a huge chocolate peanut butter fan so I use a mix of chocolate chips and peanut butter in this recipe. However, you can substitute the peanut butter for an equal amount of chocolate chips.
- Mini Eggs are one of the signature Easter Treats that everyone seems to love. These treats are topped with Mini Eggs to create a bird nest look and they are so cute!
- Chow Mein Noodles are available in the international aisle of grocery stores. They are precooked, crispy and airy, and are traditionally served as a topper for soups, salads, stir fries, etc. They are the perfect shape for making these cute little nest treats!

1 Line two cookie sheets with parchment paper.
2 Place the chow mein noodles in a large bowl. Set aside.
3 In a microwave safe bowl combine the chocolate chips and peanut butter. Melt in 15 second intervals until fully melted. Or in a medium saucepan, combine the white chocolate chips and peanut butter. Stir over medium heat until smooth.
4 Pour melted chocolate mixture over the chow mein noodles and stir until evenly coated.
5 Using two spoons, scoop out a heaping tablespoon of the mixture and place it on the parchment paper-lined cookie sheet. Form an indent in the center and immediately place two or three egg candies in the center. Repeat with the rest of the mixture and egg candies.
6 Allow the nests to cool on the parchment paper until the chocolate is set. To speed up the process, place bird nests in the freezer for 10 minutes, or fridge for 20 - 30 minutes.
7 Serve and enjoy!
Variations
This recipe is so versatile and can be made in more than one way. Here are some suggestions you can use:
- If you don’t have chocolate chips you can use chocolate almond bark or any chocolate bar you have at home. Just chop up the bark or bars into smaller pieces first so it is easier to melt
- To create a lighter color next use all white chocolate chips and peanut butter. By doing this your nests will be light brown in color.
- If you are a mint chocolate lover, instead of peanut butter sub for mint chocolate chips, or use all chocolate chips and add a few drops of mint extract to the mix!
- Nut Free Option: These nests can be made with all chocolate and no peanut butter. Use your favorite nut free chocolate, chow mein noodles and egg candy.
