Chili Cheese Dog Dip Recipe

Chili Cheese Dog Dip wreath is a fun party food that is great for sharing. Hot dogs are wrapped in Pillsbury crescent rolls to make pigs in a blanket and are baked in a wreath shape.

A chili cheese dip is made to fill the wreath and topped with cheddar cheese. Baked until golden brown and bubbly this dip is the ultimate twist on the classic chili cheese dog.

Serve this at your next game day party or movie night and your friends will have a blast! Serve with extra chips on the side.

What is in Chili Cheese Dog Dip?

ingredients to make chili cheese dog dip ring
  • Chili – one of the best parts of this dip is that you can make it in a flash with a can of chili! Of course you can also use homemade chili if you have it on hand. I often make a large batch of chili and freeze them in individual serving sizes in freezer safe containers. To make the dip I simple thaw a portion out and proceed with the recipe.

  • Pillsbury Crescent Rolls – a secret weapon in the kitchen for quick appetizers and sides. I love using crescent rolls in my kitchen! I often cannot find the ‘pigs in a blanket’ wrappers in Canada but if you can find those in your local grocery store you can use those also.

  • Hot Dogs – for a classic chili cheese dog this recipe uses hot dogs. However, you can get creative and use little smokies or smoked sausage of choice.

  • Cream Cheese – the dip is a combination of chili and cream cheese. It adds a creamy texture to the chili and binds it together to become thick enough to dip chips or pigs in a blanket in!

  • Cheddar Cheese – shredded cheddar cheese is mixed into the dip and also baked on top of the dip for a beautiful and cheesy topping! My favorite part of this dip is dipping corn chips in the cheese top layer.

  • Green Onion – this optional garnish adds a pop of color to the dip ring but also a bit of freshness. You could also use chives if you have those on hand instead.
