What are Sugar Cookie Rice Krispie Treats
These are a fun twist on two classic treats, rice krispies and sugar cookies! They are so easy to make with only 6 ingredients and 5 minutes of prep. Store bought sugar cookie mix is cooked into the classic buttery marshmallow base of rice krispie treats. Mini marshmallows and sprinkles gives the treats a fun pop of color. They are the most rich, sticky, gooey, and crispy treats you can make! Once you make a batch you will be begging for a second!

Ingredients

- Rice Krispies Cereal - any brand of puffed rice cereal will work for this recipe. You can also use the festive Christmas Rice Krispie Cereal!
- Marshmallows - a bag of large marshmallows is melted down to create the base of the rice krispie treats.
- Butter - melted into the marshmallow base, this keeps them nice and ooey gooey without hardening too much.
- Sugar Cookie Mix - store-bought sugar cookie mix is cooked into the marshmallow base to give the treats a sugar cookie flavor.
- Sprinkles - we love using classic Christmas sprinkles for a classic sugar cookie vibe. You can also use any color of sprinkles for different holidays or occasions such as Easter, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving, and more!
- Mini Marshmallows - stirred into the treats to add an extra gooey texture!

How to Make Sugar Cookie Rice Krispie Treats

- Grease a 9"x13" baking tray with cooking spray or line with parchment paper.
- Place a large pot on low heat and melt the butter.
- Add the sugar cookie mix. Stir continuously and cook for 1 minute.
- Add in the bag of marshmallows. Stir continuously until fully melted and evenly combined with the sugar cookie butter mixture.
- Remove the pan from the heat and add the rice Krispies cereal and gently mix using a spatula or wooden spoon.
Tip: spray the spatula with cooking spray so that the mixture does not stick as much to the spatula. - Once evenly combined add the ⅓ cup of the mini marshmallows and the sprinkles. Some of the marshmallows will melt slightly and some will remain whole.
- Gently spread the mixture into an even layer in the prepared pan. Do not press the mixture down too much, just press it down enough to create an even layer of the rice krispie treats.
- Decorate the top with more sprinkles.
- Let cool for 30 minutes and cut into 18 or 24 square pieces. Serve and enjoy!
