Star Ingredient

  • By now you know that garlic is by far one of my most used and favorite ingredients. These breadsticks are covered in garlic butter and topped with fresh grated parmesan cheese. For the ultimate breadsticks.

How to Make Crazy Bread

It can be intimidating to make bread but these easy breadsticks are a great beginner recipe. I make my dough in a stand mixer which does all the work for me so I don’t need to do any kneading. This recipe can also be made by hand and kneaded for 10-15 minutes until a smooth dough ball forms.

1 Add yeast, water and sugar into the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook. Let the yeast dissolve until frothy.

2 Once the yeast is frothy, add in the oil, salt and flour. Turn mixer on and knead the dough for 5 minutes, scraping down the sides as needed, or knead by hand until and firm ball is formed. The dough should be a little sticky. If it is overly sticky then add in a bit more flour.

3 Lightly grease or spray a bowl and place dough into the bowl. Cover and leave in a warm area until the dough rises and doubles in size. Approximately 30-45 minutes.

4 Preheat oven to 400°F.

5 Turn dough onto a parchment paper lined baking sheet (ex. pizza tray). Use the palms of your hands to press the dough into a large circle.

6 Use a pizza cutter to cut the dough into 1 inch wide breadsticks, you do not need to push the breadsticks apart, they will bake side by side. Let the sliced dough rest for 10 minutes in a warm place.

7 Bake for 15-20 minutes or until the top is light brown.

8 Melt butter with minced garlic, garlic powder and minced parsley.

9 Once the breadsticks are baked, brush the melted butter all over the breadsticks. Then sprinkle with the parmesan cheese and serve.

Storage and Leftovers

My family loves these breadsticks we usually finish them in one sitting. However, if you have leftovers store in air tight container or Ziploc bag in the fridge. To reheat simply place on a cookie sheet and reheat in the oven for 5 minutes at 350°F. This will make them crispy again. You can also microwave for 15 seconds for a softer breadstick.
