Ingredients
8slicesbacon
1largeloaf crusty bread
2mediumjalapeño peppers, diced, seeds removed
4ozcream cheese, softened at room temperature, 1/2 brick
1cupcheddar cheese, shredded
1cupmozzarella cheese, or any other white cheese of choice, shredded
Cut the bacon into bite sized pieces. Pan fry on medium heat for about 5-8 minutes or until cooked through. Drain on a paper towel lined plate.
Preheat oven to 350°F.
Carefully use a knife to cut a grid into the top of the bread (3/4 of the way through the bread). Be careful not to cut through the bottom of the bread.
In a small bowl, combine the diced jalapenos, cream cheese, ¾ cup of cheddar cheese, ¾ cup of mozzarella cheese, green onion, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Mix until thoroughly combined.
Use a knife or spoon to spread the cheese mixture into the cut sections of the bread. Place pieces of bacon in the cut sections of the bread.
Brush the loaf of bread with garlic butter and loosely cover with foil. Bake in the oven for 10 minutes.
Remove from oven and remove the foil. Top with the remaining cheddar and mozzarella cheese. Bake uncovered until cheese melts, approximately 5 minutes.
Optional: garnish with more green onions and/or jalapenos. Enjoy!
